Supported Files
How do I upload multiple files? You can upload multiple files in a zipped folder or add files once you have your quote for one file. Alternatively you can use our ‘multiple file upload’ option to upload as many files as you like for one quotation Why won't my file upload? There are definitely words in my document but the quote says there are none, why is that? This is most likely to be a scanned document. Some types of scanned document work better than others, for example a high resolution pdf or jpg. If your document is handwritten, or poorly scanned it may affect the systems ability to recognise the characters. Not to worry, a consultant can help you obtain a word count for almost any document and organise a quotation for you. What is the difference between the priorities Speed, Quality and Price? The system recognises the different requirements for each priority. The speed option offers the fastest possible turnaround time for your project and adds a small surcharge for the rush job. The price option offers the lowest possible price for translation only, recommended for information. The quality option automatically adds proofreading as standard. We recommend that proofreading is included in all translation projects. What is a zip file?A zip file is contains a number of files that have been compressed to reduce their size and stored in one folder. What format is best for a scanned document?Ideally a high resolution jpeg, jpg or pdf will give the most accurate word count. How do I know which language variation to choose?Check the requirements of your target audience, and the language spoken/written in your target country. Our consultants are able to advise on the language required for your target audience, please do contact us if you wish to discuss this in more detail What is the difference between a non-technical text and a technical text?Technical text requires the skill of a technical translator, for example for medical, legal, engineering etc. This can also be required for some marketing texts. Non- technical texts can include general business documents, marriage certificates etc. If you are unsure please feel free to contact a consultant who can check the text for you and advise which option you should choose. I need to add another language to me quote; do I need to start again? Not at all, you can edit your language selection by clicking the ‘edit’ button within the quote or by simple clicking the ‘add more languages’ button underneath your quotation. If you are having any difficulties one of our consultants can edit the quote for you as you view it online. Please contact us on Are the translations generated by a machine?NO! At Web-Translations we are proud to only offer human translation for each and every project. No matter how large or small all projects are undertaken by a native human translator, with at least three years experience in their field of expertise. I need help, can I speak to someone?Of course! Our friendly team are here to help you obtain your quotation and order your project. Our expert consultants can advise you on your project and walk you through the system. My project is urgent, can you meet my deadline?Yes, by choosing the Speed option in your priority you will be offered the fastest possible turnaround for your project. If this is not fast enough please do discuss your urgent project with a consultant. We have the ability to achieve amazing turnaround times on urgent projects to help you meet your deadline. I have a budget for this project, can you help?Choosing the Price priority you will benefit from the most competitive pricing for high quality human translation available. Why do you recommend proofreading as standard?Translation is an art, not a science. When it comes to translation for publication proofreading is added to all projects as standard to ensure a quality translation first time, every time. Having spent weeks putting together your latest marketing piece or technical manual it is essential that the translated result is a perfectly localised version of your original. We are proud to only use qualified human translators and although our translators do check their own work they are after all only human and occasionally humans make mistakes! Using two translators also allows the sharing of experience and industry terminology. At Web-Translations we believe two heads are definitely better than one This text is for a website I am launching in a new market, do you have any recommendations?Website localisation involves more than just translating the content. It is important that your website not only speaks to people in their native language but also that people are able to find the site in their own language on local search engines. Please contact one of consultants who will be able to give you more information |
